Florals, Trust, and a Magical Wedding: A Florist’s Heartfelt Experience
It’s been a while since my last blog post, but after my most recent wedding, I just had to get my thoughts down—well, more realistically, onto my blog.
I recently had the absolute pleasure of creating special blooms for a beautiful couple, now known as The Crowthers. There’s a bit of a backstory to this wedding, and it wasn’t the usual route taken as a florist.
Originally, my teacher and mentor had this wedding booked, however she was hoping to head overseas for a floristry masterclass and asked if I’d be willing to take it on. As soon as I saw the mood board and colour palette, I didn’t hesitate for a second. Of course, I would do this! Even though my business hadn’t officially launched yet, there was no way I could pass up this incredible opportunity. The bride agreed, putting her trust in me to bring her vision to life—and I couldn’t have been more grateful.
I spent months meticulously planning every detail, determined to make my teacher proud and create the perfect wedding florals for this bride. When it came time to pick up the flowers, I was stressing over whether the soft pinks were leaning more purple than peach—of course, no one would notice except me, the classic overthinker!
When the time came to deliver the blooms, my partner and I made the journey with a mix of excitement and anxiety. We stopped every now and then to make sure no blooms had shifted or left their assigned seats. First up were the bouquets—the most daunting moment. This was the make-or-break point: would the bride love them, or would she throw them at me? (Not that I’d ever had that happen, but it’s a fear I think all florists share.)
The real reason I’m writing this post, though, is because of the bride’s and bridal party’s reaction. I can barely describe the atmosphere in the room, but I’ll try. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and excitement—everyone was grinning from ear to ear, absolutely thrilled with the flowers and happy anticipation for the day. The bride was in the middle of her hairdo, so I brought her bouquet closer for a proper look. Her face lit up with such joy, and in that moment, I felt completely at ease. Honestly, I could’ve stayed for champagne because these women were so warm, kind, and welcoming. You could just tell this was going to be a magical day, surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
To make the moment even more special, the photographer was genuinely in love with the florals and couldn’t help but share how beautifully they complemented the overall vibe of the day. It was such a lovely compliment and hearing it from someone who captures so many stunning moments really meant a lot. It was a reminder of how every detail—whether in front of or behind the camera—comes together to create something truly magical.
It’s moments like this that make it all worth it. As a newlywed myself, I understand the stress of the big day and the overwhelming relief when everything goes smoothly. That’s why I always give 110%—to help make your special day exactly what you dreamed of. I’ll stress, nitpick, and focus on every detail so you don’t have to, allowing you to simply enjoy the moment!
It is truly an honour and a privilege to be a part of someone’s wedding day. The trust that couples place in me to bring their vision to life is something I don’t take lightly. I pour my heart into every detail, knowing that these moments are not just fleeting—they are cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Each wedding is a reflection of love, joy, and personal connection, and I am incredibly grateful to play a role in making that vision a reality.
As I continue to grow my small business, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come. Every opportunity to create, collaborate, and be part of such meaningful celebrations is a step forward in a journey that I hold dear. I can’t wait to see what the future holds, and I’m so thankful to all the couples who have trusted me to be a part of their big day. The best is yet to come, and I’m eager to see where this path takes me.
